Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain watering systems, including freezing prevention and or repairs because of freezing.
  • Proper handling of calves and cows in various pregnancy and birthing stages, with additional care to accommodate cold and or freezing temperatures at the time.
  • Processing (sorting) of calves to include sorting and taking care of sick animals in need of application of pharmaceuticals with ongoing treatment per protocol.
  • Operating equipment to haul hay using tractors and wagons. 
  • Maintenance of farm equipment and animal housing areas
  • Inspect, maintain, prepare, repair equipment pens, yards, fences associated with corn stalk and wheat pasture.
  • Receive and place stocker cattle on wheat and corn stalks for grazing.
  • Feed cattle to supplement diet.
  • Examining cattle to detect diseases, injuries and monitor health.
  • Break ice in watering facilities.
  • Pull cattle off stalks (prior to planting) and wheat (at hollow stem).
  • Sell cattle, move cattle with stock trailer.

Job qualifications and requirements:

  • A minimum of at least six (6) months recent and verifiable experience required for handling livestock.
  • Workers must be able to obtain their drivers license within 30-90 days of hire and maintain clean driving record to be able to operate company pickup for obtaining medicine and birthing supplies.
  • Workers will perform manual and physical work requiring extensive pushing, pulling, sitting or walking, frequent stooping, bending over and movements might be repetitive.
  • Job duties include lifting up to 75 lbs. of feed and newborn animals including of agricultural tools and equipment.
  • Most work is performed mostly outdoors, and workers will be exposed to extreme cold temperatures.
  • No texting and use of cellphone during working hours, while operating machinery, equipment and driving vehicles.
  • All tools are provided by the employer.
  • Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination of employment.

Wage: $19.26 per hour

3/4th guarantee apply – for detailed description, please require from employer

Reimbursement for transportation and subsistence to worksite – 50% upon arrival and 50% at completion of work contract

Housing will be provided should you not be able to return home at the end of each workday
