Our main farming activity is cattle feedlots, but we also plant and harvest our own crops that are used for feeding our cattle. Job duties include but are not limited to:
• Drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store grain crops.
• Attach farm implements such as plow, disc and drill to tractor.
• Till soil, plant and cultivate grain.
• Tow harvesting equipment.
• Drive and operate self-propelled combine, swather, baler and rake.
• Silage chopping, haying, hauling grain silage.
• Assist with irrigation of crops – maintenance of pivots for irrigation purposes.
• Harvested crops are delivered to one of the feedlots where workers have to off-load trucks and monitor the unloading of the trucks.
• Pack crops and move crops using tractors.
• Move hay bales from stack yard to the feed area for grinding.
• Drive tractors to pack high might moisture corn and silage.
• Clean pens and haul manure. Workers will use loader to load trailers with manure. Drive tractors with trailers to haul the manure from the pens to manure pile.
• Maintenance of machinery and equipment – this includes duties such as lubricating and repairing farm machinery.
• Haul manure – using skid steer, use loader to load trailer with manure. Drive tractors with trailers to haul manure from the pens to the manure pile.
• Driving farm trucks to feed correct rations and pounds to individual pens of cattle in CAFO.
• Driving farm trucks to haul silage from the field to the CAFO during harvest season.
• Driving farm trucks to haul corn between CAFO’s.
• Driving of the farm feed trucks are only on the work site locations and between the feed yards.
• Assisting with processing, doctoring, and handling of cattle in CAFO.
• Daily maintenance of trucks – lubricating, change filters, check water and oil.
Job requirements:
• Three (3) months verifiable experience required.
• Job duties require workers to perform physical and manual labor. Job duties might require workers to push, pull, sit and walk extensively, frequent stooping or bending.
• Workers will be required to do lifting of tools, items relating to job duties up to 60 lbs.
• Workers must be able to drive a tractor, feed truck and skid steer.
• Workers must be able to identify sick animals and therefore experience in handling of cattle is recommended.
• Workers to obtain driver's license within 30 days of hire.
